Homer "the huggable hound" Arrow Rubber and Plastics corp. Edward Mobley Dachshund.

This is the advertisement for Homer "the Huggable Hound"
Homer came at the end of Arrow's run.
Made in 1966
As with all Arrow toys, what is he?
A Dachshund maybe?
He doesn't really look like a dog i've ever seen.

This is the original Homer I own.
I have now seen 4 of these.
He isn't as rare as I had once thought.
But that doesn't take away from his desirability.
People really love this guy.
Its easy to see why.
His ears are a vinyl instead of the normal fluffy ears in the ad.
They also differ from the normal fluffy ears used by Arrow.
Homer not only has a movable head, but his tail is also jointed.

This is Clown version of Homer. I have seen 2 mine
and another I purchased for a friend.
Mine is from france and the second I bought was from spain.
He is marked Edward Mobley Arrow Rubber and Plastics 1966.
The Squeaker Is also much different.
It is located beneath the head and is part of the neck,
instead of being located on the belly.
He also comes with accessories,
something I have never seen on a Arrow or Sun toy.
He has a white collar and is supposed to have a little teal hat,
that fits into a hole in his head.
He is also much smaller that the original Homer.

Isnt he just so sweet?

It was so sweet of the seller I bought this from to send the hat.
Now he is complete.

And looking pretty dapper if I do say so myself.

you have just got to love the mustard yellow polkadot ears.
I added this tail to mine because the original tail is really ugly.
The original tail looks like a broken paint brush.
So it turns out one with Fluffy Ears was made.
He is really cute.
Homer has the most variants I have seen of the Arrow toys.
He is also the most desirable of all the Arrow toys and his price reflects that.

Sun Rubber Company Casper the Friendly Ghost

This is the Casper the Friendly Ghost Squeak made by sun rubber.
He is another of the Sun Rubber Company's toys that can cost more than $200 at auction.
I really got lucky with mine costing me $30.

This one is not mine but snagged from a ebay listing I just think the packaging is so cute I had to post it.

Arrow Rubber and plastics, Edward Mobley, catalog 1966

I love this catalog so much.
I know how lucky i am to own it.
Every single page makes me smile.

I wish this catalog Included The whole line of Arrow Products I would love to see all the designs That where created by this company.  The thought and design put into the whole marketing for this company was so wonderful and the concept behind sanitary "stuffed animals" is such a great inventive idea it breaks my heart that, the company has all but become forgotten. For the people left who do still care information is nearly impossible to get. So here I am still on my mission of finding all I can about my favorite company that closed their doors nearly 30 years before I was born.

Sun Rubber Company "Sunny Bear"

The Sun Rubber Company "Sunny" Bear
This is one of the few squeak toys that can cost you a pretty penny. I have waited and waited to get mine. Im not one of the "gotta have it now!" kind of people. I have been very lucky with these guys, I always assumed that I would never own one because of the high amount they bring on Ebay. If you keep your eyes peeled and hold out for just the right luck they pop up in strange places. Mine have been thrifted, given to me as gifts, or saved from the flea market. Made by a few companies they seemed ideal for Baby play. Sanitary, Natural, and Non-Toxic, all words that moms drool over today. In 1958 they where wonderfully ahead of the game when it came to toys.

I wish I knew who made the one with the belly button. I got him from a woman who was selling her entire collection. She had a lot of very rare squeaks, ones I bought from her i had never seen before or since. This little bear with his happy tummy is one of my all time favorites.

These are the 10 that I own plus a cute advertisement for them and
this sweet yellow bear i wish was mine.
Look at them all. Each with their own charm.
sorry, but I need to gush about that monkey for at least one sentence.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
Look at that cute little hat, and his sweet chimp cheeks,
he is my number one top of the pops want.
